GESAGT. for iPhone · Last updated: October 2026

GESAGT. collects no data. The app processes recordings, transcripts and notes on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and the app sends no content to any server. As the developer, I never see your recordings or notes.

2. What happens on your iPhone

The microphone is on only while you are recording. Audio is kept in the app's protected storage and deleted as soon as you finish the note, after 24 hours at the latest.

Transcript, speaker separation, summary and to-dos are computed by speech models running on the iPhone. Finished notes stay in the app for 30 days. You can change that under “Keep History” in Settings. All app data is excluded from iCloud backup. If you want, Face ID locks the app (“Protect with Face ID”).

Because this data never leaves your device, I do not process it. What happens to it is up to you.

3. Voice profile

If you consent, GESAGT. learns your voice so you appear as “Me” in the transcript. A voice profile is biometric data under Art. 9 GDPR. It is stored only on this iPhone and never exported. You can withdraw consent at any time with “Delete Voice Profile” in Settings. The app keeps working without one; you then show up as a numbered speaker like everyone else.

4. Recording other people

Everyone who speaks is recorded. Ask everyone in the conversation before you record. In many countries, including Germany, secretly recording a private conversation is a criminal offence. You assign the names of other speakers yourself, and they appear only in your note.

5. Where your notes go

A note only leaves the app for a destination you choose:

6. Internet connections

GESAGT. does not connect to servers of its own; there are none. Two things go through Apple:

The App Store, Family Sharing and crash reports are covered by Apple's privacy policy. If you allowed iOS to share analytics with developers, Apple passes anonymous crash reports on to me.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Since I store no data about you, an access request will usually come back empty. Deleting the app removes all of its data from the iPhone. Notes in your vault stay there.

You can lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. The authority responsible for me is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).

8. Changes

If the way the app handles data changes, I will update this page. The date above shows the current version.
